Restitution d’un théâtre antique : l’exemple de Xanthos

Abstract : This paper will present a 3D model of the Roman theatre district at Xanthos in southern Turkey. It draws heavily on the contributions of photogrammetry and 3D restitution in architectural and urban studies. Three edifices are taken into account : a piazza, a luxury home and a theater, built on different ground levels and dating back to different periods. The survey and 3D modeling methods considerably facilitate the work of archaeologists and, in particular, help us to better understand the connection between the theater and the neighbouring piazza. They also permit us to gain more precise data on the theater itself, in spite of its poor state of preservation.
