Jalons pour une étude du corpus huguenot sur la tolérance au moment de la Révocation

Abstract :

This article proposes some elements of reflection on the “Huguenot corpus on tolerance around the Revocation”, which brings together a set of texts, produced between 1684 and 1697. All the authors were Protestant when they wrote their treatises. The article identifies the authors of this corpus: Noël Aubert de Versé, Henri Basnage de Beauval, Pierre Bayle, Gédéon Huet, Charles Le Cène, Isaac Papin, Jacques Philipot and Elie Saurin. Then, it highlights the intellectualism shared by all the retained authors. Finally it justifies the presence in the corpus of two theologians with Socinian leanings.
