How would we see the world in Einstein's static universe?

Abstract : We discuss the notion of perception, and investigate the effects of a universe of positive curvature on the measures that we perform and the images that we form of distant cosmolog-ical objects. We see that such a configuration leads, for an observer in an inertial reference frame, to the existence of a cosmological horizon and a distortion of metric quantities associated to distant objects. We quantify this effect and show that these considerations are compatible with many cosmological observations, such as redshift/distance relation and the existence and characteristics of the cosmic microwave background.
