On the past participle in French: behavior, value in language and effects of meaning in discourse Why is the past participle when used without auxiliaries able to be incidental to the first argument of intransitive-be forms (with the exception of aller), to a few rare intransitive-have forms, to certain pronominal forms, as well as to the second argument of transitive forms? But it is not able to be incidental to the first argument nor to intransitive-have (in their great majority) nor transitive forms? It appears that the parameters of agentivity and of transitionality make it possible to describe this behavior. The hypothesis that we develop proposes the detensive aspect of the past participle as being the explanatory key. We test this hypothesis in analysing the different meaning effects in discourse of the past participle according to the lexical aspect of the process.
Qu'est-ce qui fait que le participe passé en emploi nu peut être incident au prime actant des intransitifs-être (à l'exception de aller), de quelques rares intransitifs-avoir, de certains pronominaux, ainsi qu'au second actant des transitifs ? Mais qu'il ne peut être incident au prime actant ni des intransitifs-avoir (dans leur grande majorité) ni des transitifs ? Il apparaît que les paramètres de l'agentivité et de la transitionnalité permettent de décrire ce fonctionnement. L'hypothèse que nous développons propose l'aspect détensif du participe passé comme étant la clé explicative. Nous testons cette hypothèse en analysant les différents effets de sens en discours du participe passé en fonction de l'aspect lexical du procès.
