Virtual Keyboard Logging Counter-measures using Common Fate's Law

Résumé

— This paper describes a method to create a keylogger-resistant virtual keyboard. Keyloggers are one of the fastest growing threat to user's confidentiality as they can run in user-space, easily be distributed and upload informations to remote servers. The current countermeasure consisting of using virtual keyboards is not sufficient to protect a user from modern keyloggers. Our work proposes a new technique to create virtual keyboards using principles derived from the Gestalt psychology that displays infor-mations that can be seen by humans but that cannot be recognised by modern screenshot-based keylogging methods.
