Improvement of the corrosion resistance of Al-based alloys coatings deposited by cold spray

Abstract : This work is dedicated to the characterization of the corrosion behavior of aluminum coatings deposited by cold spraying. Influences of solution pH, the concentration in Na2SO4 and addition of ceramic particles on corrosion behavior were evaluated. Influence of pH is greater than Na2SO4 concentration. The addition of SiC particles yields denser coating with lower porosity, which exhibits better corrosion resistance. This study confirms that electrochemistry is a good tool to optimize coating elaboration parameters.
