Le développement socio-affectif, un paramètre incontournable pour mieux comprendre le bébé sourd

Abstract : The socio-affective developmental trajectory of hearing impaired children changes dramatically from that of hearing child. Deafness affects the interactive ways in which the caregiver is able to identify the child's needs and meet them, allowing the establishment of a secure attachment, decisive in the development of relations with others. Besides the parental adjustment, attachment also depends on the individual characteristics of the child, for instance, his temperament. This article offers a review of existing researches on the influence of hearing loss on the parents, the child, and especially on the attachment relationship that develops between them. In this context, cochlear implants allow mitigating the disruption of socio-affective development among the hearing impaired child, but researches on this aspect are still few.
