SpatiallyCorrelated Sparse MIMO Channel Path Delay Estimation in ScatteringEnvironments

Résumé

This paper presents a framework for spatially correlatedsparse multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel pathdelays estimation in scattering environments. In MIMO outdoorcommunication scenarios, channel impulse response of differenttransmit-receive antenna pairs is often supposed to share acommon sparse pattern, due to few significant similar scatterers, such that path delays are assumed to be equal for every transmitreceiveantenna pair. In fact, in a more realistic situation, and dueto the presence of scatterers in the environment, it would be morepractical to deal with the received signal as a cluster of multiraysaround a nominal or mean time delay under the assumption thatthese mean path delays are the same for different transmit receiveantenna pairs. In this paper we deal with such situation and wepropose a subspace based method for estimating the mean pathdelays of the channel.
