The contemporary history of Latin America was characterized by the emergence, and the action, of different left-wing political movements. In particular, during these last years, an important political wave, called "New Left" or "Socialism of the 21th Century", has shaken Latin America. One of the most characteristic elements of the so-called "New Left" is the strong seduction, and the important mass movement, generated by their respective leaders, and their speeches. Indeed, as the French linguist Patrick Charaudeau explains, in a democratic context, speeches are the main weapons that a politician can use, to conquer and maintain power. In other words, in order to understand these movements, it is necessary to analyze the speeches of their main leaders. However, since an exhaustive analysis of all the discourses of a politician would take too much time, most existing works are based solely on the study of a few speeches. Unfortunately, this approach may provide a biased observation of the discursive strategies, developed by a politician. In order to avoid such a problem, this work is based on a large corpora, and relies on recent advances in Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining, in order to analyze the political discourse of major socialist Latin American leaders of the 20th and the 21th century such as: Fidel Castro, Ernesto Che Guevara, Hugo Chávez, Nicolás Maduro, Evo Morales, Rafael Correa and the Subcomandante Marcos.

La historia contemporánea de Latinoamérica estuvo marcada por la aparición y el accionar, en la arena política, de diferentes movimientos de izquierda. En particular, durante estos últimos años, una importante ola, denominada “Nueva Izquierda” o “Socialismo del Siglo XXI”, sacudió latinoamérica. Uno de los elementos más característicos de la llamada “Nueva Izquierda” es la fuerte seducción y el importante movimiento de masas que generan sus respectivos líderes y sus discursos. En efecto, como lo explica el lingüista francés Patrick Charaudeau, en un contexto democrático, la principal arma que posee un político, para conquistar y mantener el poder, es su palabra. Es decir que para entender estos movimientos se deben analizar los discursos de sus principales líderes. Sin embargo, dado que un análisis exhaustivo de todos los discursos de un político tomaría demasiado tiempo, los trabajos existentes se basan únicamente en el estudio de unos cuantos discursos. Lamentablemente, ésto solo otorga una visión sesgada de las estrategias discursivas desarrolladas por el político. Con el fín de evitar este problema, este trabajo se fundamenta en la recopilación de corpus de gran tamaño y en el uso de recientes avances en Inteligencia Artificial y Minería de Datos con el fín de realizar el análisis del discurso político de sobresalientes líderes de izquierda del siglo XX y XXI como son Fidel Castro, Ernesto Che Guevara, Hugo Chávez, Nicolás Maduro, Evo Morales, Rafael Correa y el Subcomandante Marcos.
