A filiation link appears between Les Rougon-Macquart and Aragon’s Le Monde réel ; the same serial pattern is a phantom in Giono’s novels well-knowed as “Hussard’s cycle”. In these realistic enterprises created Provence is the starting point from which novels expanded. Therefore, Aragon’s or Giono’s Provence(s) - as Zola’s - are a narrative laboratory where references are condensed or displaced : a way to say something specific about time and History.
