La restitution de l'image des villes antiques : le problème de la représentation des parties non visibles

Abstract : After reminding some definitions for a few but essential words in the restitution of ancient towns, it is necessary to get back to creating such images. The recreation of non-visible parts of a site depends on the analysis of the source data (known, hidden or lost documents) and on the developpement of hypotheses. The image of the ancient town is a theoric model based on five determining points : topography, main contours, urban plots, shape of the public buildings, relative position of the determinants.
