The wealth of innovative ideas in agriculture a few examples of new initiatives in grass-based farming systems

Abstract : In a global context of change, a wealth of new initiatives are being implemented at all levels of the agricultural sector The 7 examples presented in this article illustrate the diversity and creativity of these new initiatives. Although they emanate from different players, they share in common a systemic approach and a dynamic of co-conception. Strategies that are being implemented include: selecting locally adapted grassland species, improving work conditions, making the most of farmland by planting catch crops, using research results to improve grassland management as pasture, implementing new solutions for minimizing nitrogen loss in grassland-crop rotation, using the principles of agroecology to analyze and evaluate production systems, and promoting intergenerational communication between grass-based farmers and students.
