Use of Usability Evaluation Methods in France : The Reality in Professional Practices

Abstract : The aim of this study is first, to ha current professional practices related to th evaluation and conception methods (user testi of a human-machine interface (HMI); and the factors influencing their use. For this p developed an online survey aimed at profess usability issues. The survey was open for t 2012; the final sample size was 98 professionals this questionnaire is to identify the level of kno each usability method. Our study highligh results: while some methods are frequently u testing; others are unknown to professionals, evaluation. Certain methods are known to pro anecdotally, such as card sorting. The study factors influencing how the use of each met results show that the use of each method professional's expertise, academic background which they work. In a longer term, we interviews with professionals to know about more detail. One of our final objectives is system to help designers to choose the best asso methods according to all of the contextual elem Keywords-usability evaluation methods; us professional practices.
