Les outils de mouture en Champagne-Ardenne à l’époque médiévale

Abstract : The inventory of medieval millstones in Champagne-Ardennes, France, is made up of 19 millstones from nine sites. Although certain water-driven millstones are associated with rotary querns dating from the 5th to the 11th century, most date to the 12th century. Despite its relatively modest size - especially considering vast framework of medieval milling- it is possible to advance a series of morphological observations that integrates the Champagne-Ardennes assemblage into a growing inventory of medieval millstones.
