Straightforward Syntheses That Avoid Scrambling of meso -Substituted [28]Hexaphyrins

Résumé

A two-step synthesis of meso-substituted [28]hexa-phyrins in an aqueous medium was developed and optimized, and scrambling processes are avoided despite the use of a high acid concentration. The efficiency of this procedure relies on the nature of the starting material, and it can be extended to the straightforward preparation of unprecedented AB2C2D-[28]hexaphyrins bearing up to four different kinds of meso-appended aryl group.
