the Wolof Corpus and functional database on predication of the Cortypo project (Constitution de Corpus Oraux pour des recherches Typologiques / Designing spoken corpora for cross-linguistic research)
Résumé
This is the contribution for Wolof (Atlantic, Niger-Congo, Senegal) in the CorTypo Corpus and Database. Based on an annotated sound-indexed corpus, in this language, 27 constructions have been identified in the domain of predication, that is for expressing the various relationships between a predicate and its participants. These constructions are defined, contrasted and illustrated by examples, and can be checked in the online corpus and compared to comparable constructions in other languages through the database. This database is linked to an annotated sound-indexed corpus through a query engine so that constructions, and ultimately contextualized examples, can be retrieved.
