Réception des stéréotypes genrés véhiculés par la littérature de jeunesse dans des espaces institutionnels contrastés

Abstract : Following works on the stereotyping phenomena (Dufays, 1991; 2001), which highlighted their role in the reader-response activity of literary works, this article focuses on the reader-response of gendered stereotypes of youth literature albums in two different institutional spaces: museums and schools, both intended both for an audience of 3-to-6-year-old pupils. By comparing these institutional spaces we can identify the weight each has on reader-responses of gendered stereotypes. It also identifies obstacles to this reader-response which occur at various levels: devices implemented in visits or classroom reading contexts; stereotyping forms touched upon in albums; subjects and their status; and finally, social context which is particularly active in France today on a topic such as equality between girls and boys.
