Multivalued finite-time observers for a class of nonlinear systems

Abstract : We consider a class of nonlinear systems whichare not observable, and can have a finite number of indistinguishabletrajectories. In general, this implies that a singlevaluedobserver does not exist. In this paper we propose theconstruction of a multivalued observer, which is able to estimatethe full set of indistinguishable trajectories. Moreover, it isalso able to estimate all possible unknown inputs acting onthe system. An application to a Magnetic levitation system isproposed as an illustrative example.
