Contribution of translator network mailing lists to the teaching of translation theory

The article deals with translation studies teaching, a topic seldom tackled by translation scholars. It relies on the assumption that translation distribution lists and examples discussed among translators contribute something specific to this teaching in a bottom-up method, starting from examples to illustrate theoretical issues. Existing tools and pedagogical resources such as anthologies, overviews of existing theories through history and the contemporary period, terminological and bibliographical data bases and conference proceedings are also reviewed in this context.
Cet article porte sur l’enseignement de la traductologie, sujet rarement voire pas abordé par les traductologues. Il repose sur l’hypothèse d’un apport spécifique des listes de diffusion et des exemples concrets de difficultés débattus entre traducteurs pouvant servir de point de départ à un enseignement de la traductologie selon une démarche ascendante, partant d’exemples pour illustrer des questions théoriques. L’article passe en revue les approches pédagogiques existantes et les outils à la disposition du traductologue : anthologies, panoramas divers des théories à travers l’histoire et la période contemporaine, outils terminologiques, bases de données bibliographiques, actes de colloques, etc. La démarche est à la fois descriptive et analytique.
