Microstructural analysis of Shanghai remolded clay during one-dimensional consolidation test

Abstract : The microstructure of soil has a significant influence on the mechanical behavior. In this paper, photos of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) are taken on Shanghai remolded clay samples under different consolidated pressures during one-dimensional consolidation test. The evolutions of microstructure of remolded clay (including aggregate shape, aggregate mean surface and orientation distribution) from both horizontal cut plane and vertical cut plane of the specimen are analyzed and compared.
