Abstract : This paper presents an observer approach for surface reconstruction using a ScanningTunneling Microscopy device. The observer is designed on the basis of a control-based strategyrecently proposed. It is here shown that even with the choice of a simple structure for thiscontrol-based observer, the surface reconstruction performances can be improved as comparedwith a more classical approach. Both simulation and real-time application results are given.
