The purpose of this paper is to outline some of the possibilities offered by using the Hyperbase tool in textuel analysis. The object is a statistical investigation of a corpus consisting of 2.000.000 tokens obtained from 30 novels by J.M.G. Le Clézio, a French contemporary author. Certain semantic fields and the thematic context of recurrent words are explored in the investigation. Several different strategies are adopted when exploring the corpus with the Hyperbase tool from a semantic perspective.
