The electronic structure of three coordinate group 14 element compounds: New insight in the light of UV photoelectron spectroscopy

Reaction of GeCl 2·dioxane with lithium salt of β-diketiminate allows the synthesis of L 2GeCl [L 2=PhNC(Me)CHC(Me)NPh] which is characterized by X-ray crystallography. The coupling of UV photoelectron spectroscopy with DFT calculations is used to elucidate the electronic structure of this nitrogens-donor-stabilized organogermanium (II) compound.
