Document Appropriation in Digital Libraries

Abstract : Our work deals with the problem of interpretation in digital libraries, inspired by the interpretative tradition of Human Sciences, to determine the characteristics of software tool design. With regard to our interdisciplinary research network, two complementary « methods » of construction of semantics have been studied: Intertextuality and Intersubjectivity. After defining these two notions in the introduction, section 2 shows that traditional libraries corroborate their necessity, section 3 deals with their instrumentation in seven hypermedia systems, and section 4 presents a new hypermedia model called Porphyry.
