A Model Based Development Approach for Distributed Embedded Systems

Abstract : Design of reliable distributed systems is stretching limits in terms of complexity since existing development techniques are usually not fully accurate for this type of applications. The main problem is the gap between the various notations used during the development process. Even if UML is a significant step forward, it is not fully suitable for model based development of distributed systems. We present a model based development approach based on LfP (Language for Prototyping) applied to distributed systems. It emphasizes the use of a model serving as a basis for automatic code generation; strong connections with formal verification techniques enforce correcteness of the system. The paper focuses on the description of code generation techniques.
