Migration Between Europe and North Africa and the Hybridization of Urban and Domestic Practices
Migrations entre L'Europe et l'Afrique du Nord et hybridation des pratiques urbaines et domestiques
Résumé
Much of what has been written about North African immigration in Europe focuses on policies of integration and their effects, and on problems experienced by North African subjects in the areas of employment, training, urban life, and civil rights in the host country. It may be interesting, also, to study the cultural evolutions of these migrants, looking at the nature of the exchanges that take place between one society to another, and the marks left by these exchanges on the subjects themselves, or, more precisely, on their domestic universe, and on their relationship to the public space. This is what we propose to do in this article.
Une grande partie de ce qui a été écrit sur l'immigration nord-africaine en Europe se concentre sur les politiques d'intégration et leurs effets, ainsi que sur les problèmes rencontrés par les sujets nord-africains dans les domaines de l'emploi, de la formation, de la vie urbaine et des droits civiques dans le pays hôte. Il est aussi intéressant d'étudier les évolutions culturelles de ces migrants, en examinant la nature des échanges qui se déroulent entre une société et les marques laissées par ces échanges sur les sujets eux-mêmes ou plus précisément dans leur univers domestique et leurs relations avec l’espace public. C'est ce que nous proposons de faire dans cet article.
