Nouvelles données paléoenvironnementales et archéologiques sur le plateau du Béage. La tourbière de La Narce et ses environs, premiers résultats

Abstract : On South-eastern Massif Central, between Ardèche and Haute-Loire, new research projects are dealing with landscape evolutions since the end of the last Glacial Era (AGES and WRACC programs). The first results presented in this paper derive from a Master thesis in geoarchaeology (Dendievel, 2013a). This work focused on the palaeoenvironmental study (sedimentology, macrofossils, radiocarbon datings) of sedimentary sequences from La Narce du Béage. Archaeological surveys have been also conducted on Le Béage municipality territory, in the Ardèche Highlands, to better understand human occupation since the end of the Palaeolithic. These results have highlighted the La Narce du Béage ecosystem trajectories, since the former Lateglacial lake to its terrestrialisation and the development of a fen. Evidence of agro-pastoral management has been identified during the Early/Mid Neolithic, with local to regional forest clearing and severe erosion of the watershed.
