Conflict Mitigation in Collaborative Design

Abstract : A classification of conflicts causes that can occur during collaborative design of product, as well as prevention, detection and resolution strategies for these conflicts are presented. This approach is used for development of a conflicts management system. Emphasize is put into capture and use of design rationale and knowledge to help conflicts mitigation. Based on this approach, a conflicts mitigation module integrated into a product design collaborative architecture is suggested. A case study on electrical connector design explains our approach.
