Résumé

The short paper explores the cultural subtexts and the specific cultural conditions of computer simulation, especially in the context of ongoing debates on past and future climate change. It is based on the international conference “Dealing with Climate Change: Calculus and Catastrophe in the Age of Simulation,” convened by the Institute for Advanced Study MECS (Media Cultures of Computer Simulation) at Leuphana University Lüneburg, Germany, in June 2015.
