Abstract : This paper examines the renewal of the content of engineering education by characterizing the progressive specialization of the contents of mechanics in relationship with the process of its building such as an autonomous school discipline, since the late sixties. This didactic and historical investigation conducted through examining the full corpus of official documents regulating the “agrégation” in mechanics and reports of jury over forty years (1968-2012), distinguishes four phases of the disciplinary configuration process. It also highlights the process of specialization/despecialization of the mechanics contents.
