La technologie prescrite à l’école en France et au Québec. Aperçu historique et mutations contemporaines (1960-2015)

Abstract : With a curricular and didactical perspective, the paper focuses on the investigation of the transformations of technology education in France and Quebec, and on the main points of the redesign of the curriculum and of this school subject. The implications on contents and teaching practices are examined. The analysis, centered on prescriptive texts and backed by research conducted in the two countries, reveals the influences of international trends of developments of technology education. It allows to highlight the similarities and contrasts in each educational system, including the delicate balance between knowledge and skills, the fragility of the prescribed subject contents, the incompleteness or uncompleted contemporary reforms and the features of a French disciplinary tradition versus a Quebec educational tradition.
