Apresentar em vez de representar: Uma AlternatiVa para a questão da encarnação no palco?

Abstract : This essay analyses the question of incarnation on stage through the work of the South African director and choreographer Robyn Orlin. In her artwork, Orlin breaks the rules through the presentation of bodies, figures and types or faces often absent in western scenes. With the exploitation of this work it will be possible to develop a reflection around a new paradigm, which is becoming more important in the contemporary scene: to present rather than represent. We consider the actor, or the “act on stage”, as the provocative presence of the human being instead of the incarnation of a character. And so we ask: how does the new paradigm, i.e., the provocative presence of the human being instead of the incarnation, the presentation instead of representation, can be opened to a new way of thinking, seeing and using the actor on stage? How can this thus help creating a new imaginary, either in the production of the work or in the viewer’s reception phase?
