1 HiSoMA - Histoire et Sources des Mondes antiques

First briefly excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition, then by a French Archaeological Mission under the direction of M. Yon, the sanctuary of Kition-Bamboula has yielded a lot of evidence concerning ritual practice in the Iron Age. This paper examines successively the spatial setting and architecture of the sanctuary, as well as some special features and series of artefacts. Archaeological observations enable one to detect ritual practices, which were sometimes repeated for a long period of time. However, due to the lack of written sources all interpretations remain very tentative.
