Éthique et traitement automatique des langues et de la parole : entre truismes et tabous

Abstract : Because ethics is an important subject, but is underrepresented in the natural language processing (NLP) domain as compared to others, we examine the causes of this relative lack of interest. To do so, we put NLP back in its historical and social contexts. Although they cannot cover all the subjects, the articles in this special issue of the TAL journal represent an interesting first step to bringing the scientific community at large to reflect upon these issues, to capitalize on it and, finally, to take action. The main motivation for this special issue is to develop the theoretical and practical tools that will allow us, as a community, not to sweep ethical issues under the carpet.
