Ethnographie des bijoux de Franco- pondichérien-ne-s. Au coeur d'une production des relations de genre et parenté

Abstract : The jewelleries of Franco-pondicherians are at the core of a social production process of embodied gender relation. They are the material form of emotions, desires, and of the memory of ties in the processual construction of this gendered relation, which find its fulfillment in husband and wife relationship. This conjugal unity is ritually produced by being integrated into several kinship networks through the usages of jewelleries in different rituals in the marriage ceremony. The women’s jewelleries give the possibility and the right to the spouses to organize and manage together the kinship ties among different networks.
