If it is impossible to specify the urban soundscape only from acoustic transcripts, sounds in the city can be approached through a variety of architectural or urban effects. According to local conditions, spectrum of sounds can be identified and qualified in detail from urban surroundings. Sound waves as seen on a sonic visualizer lead to graphic transpositions of non visual perception, which can work as architectural drawings as well as urban cross sections. Beyond the suggested analogy between sonic diagrams and architectural embodiments, there is a potential for defining architecture and public spaces from sonic schemes. Evidence of this design process is produced from three cities in a range of samples, sketches and 3D models.
