La place de « La Théosophie brahmanique » dans l’œuvre de Saussure
Résumé
The purpose of this paper is to introduce reading a misunderstood article of Saussure, published in his lifetime: “Brahmanic Theosophy”. This article is a review of Paul Oltramare’s book: the first part of The History of Theosophic Ideas in India, dealing with Brahmanic Theosophy. We try to situate this review in published and manuscript work of Saussure. We examine the conditions of writing and the vicissitudes of the transmission of this article. The published text, confronted with the manuscripts, raises questions about the role of reading Oltramare’s book in philosophical and poetic thought of the linguist.
