Verb morphologies in contact: Evidence from the Balkan area

Abstract : This paper examines verb morphologies in contact based on first hand data from the Balkans. Following some of the most recent language contact typologies, such as Heine & Kuteva (2005), Matras & Sakel (2007) and Matras (2007), it establishes a sub-typology of verb morphologies in contact ranging from replication, borrowing, loan verb markers, to novel creations.
