Baudelaire and Giono linked by the romantic grotesque. If it is true that this angle is not exclusive in the comparative study of both authors, he allows however to bring to the foreground the same esthetic and ethical will to replace the human "detritus", that is to say the hybrid (the ugly, the old man, the deformed and the dead) at the heart of the society through the literature. Analyzing the societal, philosophic but also sanitary role of such a putting at distance of memento mori, we shall manage to underlight a real poet (h) ic of the world described by the poet and the novelist.
