Les éléments initiaux dans les énoncés à sujet inversé : une étude sur corpus

Abstract : This article deals with initial elements in French sentences containing a post-verbal (inverted) subject. It a corpus-based study of 171 such sentences (out of 9745 sentences extracted from the Chambers – Le Baron Corpus of Academic Writing in French). Within the theoretical framework known as " macro-syntax " , a typology of the observed initial elements is proposed : depending on their nature and on the type of subject inversion, those elements are proved to be either extra-predicative peripheral constituents, or intra-predicative constituents of the kernel.
