PHENOMENES DE VARIATION DANS LES CORPUS ORAUX : SUJETS INTEGRES DU FRANÇAIS PARLE DES CONVERSATIONS
Résumé
The aim of this paper is to provide a corpus-based analysis of integrated (non-dislocated) subject NPs in spontaneous spoken French. Pragmatic approaches relate the topicality of subject NP referents to the dislocation of the subject NP, whereas grammatical approaches emphasize that certain linguistic features influence the dislocation or the non-dislocation of the subject NP. We argue that the dislocation of a subject NP is actually related to the topic status of his referent, but that this relation is not biunivocal, as the referent of some heavy subject NPs can also be taken to function as a topic.
