THE FORMOSAN VOCABULARY OF FOXTAIL MILLET, WITH TERMS RELATING TO OTHER PLANT DOMESTICATES

A survey of the Formosan Austronesian vocabulary of cereal cultivation was organized by members of the Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology - Academia Sinica, Taiwan, and the Centre de Recherche sur l’Asie Orientale (CNRS/INaLCO/EHESS), Paris. The survey team included YCT and HTF, two botanists, and LS, a linguist. In the course of two fieldwork seasons in May 2013 and December 2014, dialects of every living Austronesian languages of Taiwan were visited, to the exception of Yami of Orchid Island, a member of the Philippine group. This documents presents the data recorded during fieldwork.
