Abstract : This research determines how forecasting participative studies (FPS) encourage the development of business ecosystems. We will focus on governance, implementation terms and layout of a business ecosystem. A case study of coaction of chemical industry leader BASF with partner companies illustrates the research. We will present the theoretical foundations of the business ecosystem concept, and then review BASF approach to FPS. The case study helps understanding management, organizational and strategic implications of the development of business ecosystems.
