Droit à la ville ? Une réalisation des squatteurs de la rue de l’Est (Paris, 1982)

Abstract : Starting from the example of the « Fossoyeurs du Vieux Monde » (Diggers of the Old World), a group that has squatted several apartments of a newly renovated building in 1982, the paper analyzes the introduction of squatting in urban history. By operating a link between the concept of the right to the city introducted by Henri Lefebvre, the situationist discourse and a current of radical geography, the author experiences the development of a theoretical framework for the historical study of different practices of using and appropriating space.
