Abstract : This paper deals with a digital spur canceler and on its performance when applied to an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signal, including an experimental validation. Spurs are clock leakages that can leak into the reception stage, pollute the received signal and thus degrade the performance. We focus in this paper on a digital multiple-spurs canceler that extends our previous algorithm [2] to cope with strong unknown frequency shifts between expected and actual spur frequencies, due to imperfections of physical components. We first describe a parallel compensation structure, based on least-mean-square (LMS) algorithms that estimate the spur complex amplitudes and we derive analytic asymptotic performance formulae with respect to the polluter properties in the case of an OFDM signal. We show that frequency shifts can severely degrade the compensation performance and thus propose a joint estimation of the complex amplitudes and frequency shifts. We finally validate our approach by both simulations and experimentations on a software-defined-radio (SDR) platform.
