Entre appréciation et description, les goûts musicaux à l'épreuve de la « data »

Abstract : This paper discusses the framework of a research project focusing on the use of music data in the prospect of terminological alignments. It questions the way the "digital data wave" aims to transcribe practices, such as listening to music, into computer usable data. The attempt to frame complex social and personal practices, linked to "tastes", can prove problematic, that is why we are currently involved in a project attempting to understand how the search for a much-needed digital normalization tries to "deal with" the complexity and inventiveness of music listening as a social practice.
