Comparaison des métiers de school librarians japonais et français : Vers la caractérisation des contours de la fonction enseignante contemporaine

Abstract : Japan and France have equipped their educative systems with school libraries and associated professions. This comparative study of the tasks of the Japanese « shisho-kyoyu » the French « professeur documentaliste » yet reveals that their teaching function falls under rather dissonant paradigms. In Japan, this teacher of a discipline holding an additional certification mostly develops his activity in the service of the collective, through indirect action forms. His work is linked to the one of the « gakko-shisho », who does not belong to the teaching body. His specific tasks mainly consist in coordinating and training the other teachers. In France, this teacher without a discipline, who benefitted from a dedicated training course similar to the one of the other teachers, is rather combining indirect action forms with direct action forms towards pupils. In charge of the « CDI », he can create the conditions to optimise the benefits of the « interval », this break between classes characterising the schedules of high school pupils. Like a project manager, he interacts with the whole educative community to facilitate the opening of the institution and the acquisition by all pupils of a culture of information and media.
