Marseille industrielle : La Belle-de-Mai et Le Rouet Histoire de l’occupation de l’espace par l’industrie. Conséquences et évolution

Abstract : At the 19th century, Marseilles knows an economic boom which transforms its urban structures. The city is prolonged as well in north, in the Belle de Mai, as in the south, with Le Rouet, transforming these rural areas into true industrial suburbs. At this beginning of 21st century, Marseilles, strongly touched by the economic crisis and social, know a deep mutation. What becomes these production sites now useless? How this industrial history make does possible the reading of the construction urban of these two sectors in the duration? Through a double architectural and historical approach, and by employing current technologies (Geographical Information Systems), we propose to develop, within this article, the history of the occupation of urban space by industry, its consequences and its evolution.
