Towards a “New Early Music” : Forthcoming developments of the “Ricercar” Project

Abstract : From the very beginning, long before facing a musical life in general, musicians and repertoire of the Renaissance, the ‘Ricercar’ Project (CESR,nTours) has especially dealt with the edition of musical scores, belonging to the French national cultural heritage of that time (cf. e.g. the volumes Prosopographie des chantres and Messes anonymes du XVe siecle). Now, based on the technological possibilities of web 2.0, the ‘Ricercar’-team is working on the integration of these parameters, and current as well as future plans aim at the installation of an innovative portal, making it possible to reconstruct the complex and twisted ways of reception. Apart from its informative component the approach pursues a practical dimension to gain an insight into the construction and circulation of musical knowledge. Allowing in so far the inclusion of contours of a “new Early Music” the portal supports the development of new notions and concepts, for which an adequate procedure is suggested
