Identité kanak, rapport à la terre et développement durable en Nouvelle-Calédonie

Abstract : Kanak Identity, lands’ links and sustainable development in New Caledonia This paper deals with some notions commonly used when one speaks for the kanak societies of New Caledonia about development, so-called sustainable today. I first discuss the device inferred by the development index that does not deal with the diversity of the local situations. Then I’ll go back over others notions as rurality, agriculture… that people who think about the development of kanak tribes often used. At least, we’ll ask if these notions fit well with the social kanak background. Sustainable development, Horticulture versus Agriculture, Social Anthropology, Kanak Societies, New Caledonia
